What we build

Engineering-led work, built by our team and supported after launch. No slide decks, and no offshore build that disappears when something breaks.

  • Customer acquisition systems

Lead capture, follow-up and sales tracking built around how your team actually sells. This is where we find the break in the process most often.

  • Operations and workflow software

Internal tools that replace the spreadsheets, paper and double entry your team works around every day.

  • AI features inside your software

Document intake, data extraction and recommendations that do the first pass before a person reviews the result.

  • Integrations and APIs

Connect the systems you already pay for so data moves between them without someone retyping it.

  • Web and mobile applications

Customer-facing apps and portals, designed for the people using them and built to hold up as you grow.

  • Software rescue and rebuilds

Software another developer left unstable or insecure, stabilized, fixed and rebuilt to a standard you can sell.

How a custom software project works

Four steps, in this order, on every project.

  1. Step 1

    Discovery and Assessment

Every engagement starts here. We look at your numbers and your process, find the bottleneck and write a proposal. It is a paid step, and the fee is credited in full toward the project if you go ahead.

  2. Step 2

    Architecture

We design the system: what gets built, what gets bought, how it connects to your current tools and how it stays secure.

  3. Step 3

    Build

Our engineering team builds it and shows you working software along the way, so you see progress in the product itself.

  4. Step 4

    Launch and support

We put it into your team's hands and keep supporting and improving it after launch.

Operations software

Yellowstone Landscape

The problem
Managers spent hours tracking how long each employee worked on the trucks and how long each truck was out serving customers.
What we built
A system that uses GPS tracking and geofencing to capture the time. Every time a truck returns to home base, it calculates the timesheets, breaks included, and prints them for payroll. The manager reviews and signs.

AI-powered software

RipplePoint

The problem
Analysts worked through every bill by hand before they could assess anything, which capped how many customers they could take on.
What we built
An AI solution that ingests the bills, pulls the data, balances and confirms them, decides which bills need to be paid and writes the assessment. Analysts review what it produced and now handle 50 to 60% more bills and customers.

Software rescue

A short-term rental company

The problem
Software built offshore had a security flaw that exposed a guest's lockbox code to thousands of other users, and the business was close to going under.
What we built
We fixed the vulnerabilities, eliminated the bugs and rebuilt the software to a stable, sellable standard. The company was later acquired.

An Orlando software company, working across the U.S.

Our office is at 121 South Orange Ave, Suite 1500, in downtown Orlando. Rey Ortega founded the company here as Grata Software in 2014, and it is now Grata Intelligence.

Central Florida clients can sit down with us in person. Companies in other states work with us over video calls, with the same team and the same process.

Who builds custom software in Orlando?

Grata Intelligence, formerly Grata Software, is a custom software development company in downtown Orlando. Since 2014 we have designed, built and supported custom software, web and mobile apps and AI-powered systems for small and mid-size businesses across the United States. Our office is at 121 South Orange Ave, Suite 1500, Orlando, FL 32801.

How much does custom software cost?

It depends on what the software has to do, how many systems it connects to and how much of it already exists. Every project with us starts with a paid Discovery and Assessment, credited in full toward the build if you go ahead. You get a proposal for the build after that, so you know the cost before any code is written.

How long does it take to build custom software?

We give you a timeline in the proposal after Discovery and Assessment, because it depends on scope. We show you working software along the way, so you see progress before the whole system is done.

Should I build custom software or buy off-the-shelf software?

Buy when a product already fits how you work. Build when the software is how you compete, when your team is working around a tool that doesn't fit, or when you need several systems to work as one. Part of Discovery and Assessment is telling you which parts to build and which to buy.

Can you fix or rebuild software another developer built?

Yes. Software rescue is a regular part of our work. We have taken over offshore-built systems with serious security problems, fixed them and rebuilt them to a standard a buyer would accept.

Do you add AI to custom software?

Yes. We have been building AI-enabled technology for 12 years. A common example is document intake, where AI reads and checks incoming files before a person reviews them. See our AI consulting page for more.

Do you only work with Orlando companies?

No. We are based in downtown Orlando and work with businesses across the United States. Local clients can meet us in person, and everyone else works with us over video calls.

Who will I work with?

You work directly with our engineering-led team and with Rey Ortega, the founder, a self-taught software engineer with more than 26 years of experience. We speak CEO and programmer at the same time, so nothing gets lost between what the business needs and what gets built.

Are Grata Software and Grata Intelligence the same company?

Yes. Rey Ortega founded Grata Software in Orlando in 2014, and the company is now Grata Intelligence.

How do I start a custom software project?

Call (866) GO-GRATA, (866) 464-7282, or fill out the form on this page. We will set up a discovery call to talk through what you need.
